A private nature reserve on the Limpopo, with San rock art, where elephant, lion, and leopard roam free.
A wildlife corridor to Mapungubwe National Park and to Botswana’s Tuli Block across the river, Lesedi Game Reserve lies on the Limpopo near Musina, within a transfrontier conservation landscape of 121,000 hectares where elephant, lion, and leopard move freely. The reserve itself covers 22,258 hectares and is fenced on three sides.
Lesedi has 7 kilometers of frontage on the Limpopo, and its wildlife includes African wild dog and many species of antelope. It also holds twenty-three San rock paintings, and it lies near the confluence of the Shashe and the Limpopo, where South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe meet, in the country of the historic Kingdom of Mapungubwe.
Two lodges and an operations base stand on the reserve. Lesedi Lodge has ten guest rooms and an infinity pool above the Limpopo; Naledi Lodge, on a hillside above a large reservoir, has eleven en-suite rooms; and the operations base holds the manager’s house, a workshop, and staff housing. Some of the accommodations are due for renovation.
Boreholes and four large dams supply water, and some 700 kilometers of internal roads cross the property. A private airstrip puts Johannesburg about two hours away by air and Polokwane 30 to 40 minutes.
What makes this a great rural estate
Lesedi serves as a corridor for free-roaming wildlife to Mapungubwe National Park and Botswana’s Tuli Block, within a much larger conservation area.
