Dehesa El Gavilán
Montes de Toledo · Castilla-La Mancha · Spain
Hunting · Mountain
Sierra, dehesa, and open plain in the Montes de Toledo, kept for big and small game.
Mountain, dehesa, and the open plain called raña follow one another across Dehesa El Gavilán, in the Montes de Toledo, hill country long known for its red deer. The estate’s 2,025 hectares hold both big and small game, and Madrid is about 90 minutes away.
Red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, and wild boar make up the big game. The small game is partridge, pigeon, and duck, with rabbit, hare, and fox, and the ground is divided into six hunting areas and one reserve.
The Navas River and the Gavilán stream run through Mediterranean woodland: holm oak and cork oak, Portuguese oak and maple, strawberry tree, olive, and rockrose, with open raña plain between. Springs and wells supply the water, the farmland is eligible for EU agricultural payments, and the estate has its own power line and a perimeter fence.
A main house, a guesthouse, and a keeper’s house give room to family, guests, and staff, with a pool, a garden, and a sun terrace for the long Castilian afternoons.
